I got up so early that I walked in the park.
（私はとても早く起きたので，公園を歩きました。）
I am so tired that I can’t study.
（私はとても疲れているので，勉強することができません。）
☑ so～that…は「とても～なので…」という意味を表します。
ポイント この構文では，thatのうしろは《主語＋動詞》の形になります。
【問１】次の日本文を英文にしなさい。
I am so busy that I can’t meet(see) her.
They were so surprised that they couldn’t speak a word.
②too～to…
I am too tired to study today.
（私は今日疲れすぎていて勉強することができません。）
☑ too～to…は「～すぎて…できない」という意味を表します。
ポイント この構文では，toのうしろは動詞の原形です。
【問２】次の日本文を英文にしなさい。
He is too old to run fast.
Takeshi was too tired to walk.
③so～that…とtoo～to…の書きかえ
I am so busy that I can’t help you.
（私はとても忙しいので，私はあなたを手伝うことができません。）
＝I am too busy to help you.
（私は忙しすぎてあなたを手伝うことができません。）
The book is so difficult that I can’t read it.
（その本はとても難しいので，私はそれを読むことができません。）
＝The book is too difficult for me to read.
（その本は私には難しすぎて読むことができません。）
☑ 「so～that─can’t…」の形の文は「too～to…」の文に書きかえることができます。
ポイント①
so～that…の文に「can’t(couldn’t)」が入っているときだけ，too～to…の文に書きかえが可能です。
ポイント②
so～that…の文で，thatの前後の文の主語が異なる場合は，「too～for─to…」の形になります。
ポイント③
主語が異なる場合は，so～that…の文には代名詞「it」が必要です。←特に注意
【問３】次の日本文をso～that…，too～(for─)to…を使った２通りの英文にしなさい。
